I originally began my career pursuits in web design — creating layouts in Photoshop and executing them into HTML layouts in early 1995. And running a business as a web designer was not easy when all you could offer was static websites and little to no functionality to interact with your visitors. To add value to my services, I began to learn PHP, Javascript, Flash, , sufficient enough to build intuitive applications for end users and site administrators and scripts that would help perform functions and meet business needs. You could say that I was an end-to-end developer and designer, who could provide a full suite of services from start to finish.

xhtml & css:
I've seen HTML evolve from HTML 1.0 to the latest iteration of XHTML and have followed the progression out of table-based layouts to pure separation of presentation from content and the XHTML template that holds it together. Staying on top of that progression, I consider myself at an expert level with HTML/XHTML having coded it by hand from the very beginning. With over a decade of HTML development experience, I have the skills and experience to troubleshoot browser compatibility issues over multiple versions.

new media & flash:
Over the course of my employment history and freelance projects, I have created a variety of Macromedia Flash pieces for both web and CD-ROM. Those pieces have varied from simple introductions to interactive presentations and media pieces, and upwards to more complex web/CDR applications. In addition, I have also had my hand in some video production at my time with Unitedhealth Group and incorporated those videos into Flash applications and presentations.

php applications & scripts:
My experience with PHP has been out of pure necessity to build up my offerings to my clients over the years. I have constructed a wide array of PHP applications from simple contact and validation scripts to a full-blown content management system and e-mail campaign manager that allowed basic tracking of campaign effectiveness. Presently I do not work within PHP as much as I used to, but my familiarity with server-side development allows me to work closely with developers for proper template integration into web applications.
